Does Religious Obedience Generate Happiness?

I'm convinced that religious principles can generate happiness, even if they aren't necessarily fundamental truths of eternity. Of course, eternal truths generate eternal happiness (if observed or obeyed). What pleased me about this presentation was its decidedly secular analysis of happiness and the conclusion that commitment really matters. That runs counter to the popular beliefs of selfish modernity.
