Time: 8:25-?
Study: Mormon 7-8:21
18 And he that saith: Show unto me, or ye shall be smitten—let him beware lest he commandeth that which is forbidden of the Lord.
19 For behold, the same that judgeth rashly shall be judged rashly again; for according to his works shall his wages be; therefore, he that smiteth shall be smitten again, of the Lord.
20 Behold what the scripture says—man shall not smite, neither shall he judge; for judgment is mine, saith the Lord, and vengeance is mine also, and I will repay.
8:18-20 – it occurred to me as I read this that a humble soul who cries out for relief is asking God for justice and God will answer, despite loving the perpetrator as well. So the relieved soul may thank God, but also cry with him at the destruction of another. This thought led me to imagine an all-mighty God crying and a humble son or daughter comforting Him as well as thanking Him. How do you comfort God?
As I pondered this scene of God weeping, I realized how realistic it was. This love is why he weeps and why he suffers us to sin without immediate consequence; that we might repent.
