TED Talk: Entreprenuerial Pitches to Venture Capitalists

This was a surprising find on TED. TED usually deals with social, economic, design and other touchy-feely topics. This presentation was how to wow investors and, in general, give a powerful presentation that influences your audience. I suspect that this was partially to help all the non-profit leaders in attendance as they seek donations.
Several key points I learned:
- Shape your presentation like an overture:
- Engage
- Build up
- End big
- Hint at more
- You must communicate:
- Integrity
- Passion
- Experience
- Knowledge
- Skill
- Leadership
- Commitment
- Vision
- Realism
- Coeachability
- Aspire to present like Steve Jobs:
- Simple, spartan even
- Minimal text
- Direct the focus of the audience
- Engage them
- Learn to present by:
- Using "presenter mode"
- Using a remote
- Creating stand-alone handouts that are not your presentation slides!
- not reading a speech
- never looking at the screen
There were other good tips too. Watch and learn!
