While reading about the demise of the mouse (Apple is retiring the mouse in favor of multi-touch-screens) I found out about this company, Emotiv, which has created a consumer-grade brain-wave scanner and software to interpret the signals and control a computer. While still a little shaky, it does appear to work. And my first impression of the headset is striking pleasure; it invokes all sorts of imaginings, like mind-control, telekinetic amplification, etc.

What impresses me is not the technology so much as the package and, more importantly, its price point of $300! This will spur plenty of hobbyist experimentation and we might see highly accelerated innovation as a result.
