Patrons of Creativity Stock Exchange System

Since 2005, I have been cultivating this idea of a stock exchange system to support creative endeavors and the people involved (the artists and audiences).

[more explanation to come. I need a holding page to begin collecting comments and references.]

PRI's The World: Technology Podcast, episode 232 (MP3) included a clip from the BBC debating the purpose of copyright. This segment begins about 00:06:45.

What interested me was their conclusion. They both admit that copyright exists for commercial purposes, primarily and may or may not impact the actual creative motivations of the artist. It may even inhibit them.

Buzz-Out-Loud had a discussion about Jammie Thomas and her fight with the RIAA. The court ordered her to pay $1,920,000 in damages for sharing 24 songs.

Listen to this BOL discussion on episode 1001, about 11 minutes 25 seconds from the beginning.

What I want to highlight is the BOL discussion of copyright laws, pirating and their influence on creativity. They confirm my opinion that our current system is imbalanced and broken. It focuses on money more than creative work and patronage.
