Mr. and Mrs. Smith Surprise Me

We just finished Mr. and Mrs. Smith and I was surprised by its humor—kind of like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I knew it would be an action movie, but I wasn't expecting the "battle of the sexes" and "his vs. hers", along with the clear girl-power vein running throughout. It was serious and silly too. The ending was, um, well, I wont give it away—it fit the super-human theme while making me think of Butch and the Kid again.

I couldn't recommend this movie to most people; it's a little too heavy on the sensuality (we skipped two parts near the beginning and the end). But for married couples, the movie may hold a little more charm and empathy.

I was also amused to think that this was where Brad and Angelina "hooked up" their later marriage (though my wife insists that they didn't do anything until after Brad divorced) and that in this movie they don't like children while in real life they now have six!

So, I can selectively recommend it to some. The action is intense and laced with humor with moments of suspense. The veiled message is actually good and genuine enough. The marriage counseling sessions worked very well to frame this movie and suspend my disbelief. And the movie improved my opinion of both actor's abilities.
